Advisory on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
“No ban on public gatherings, conferences”
On 5 March 2020, Malaysia Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country is in an early containment phase and that the situation related to Covid-19 is still under control. The government has yet to impose bans on public gatherings, including conferences in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. No ban on public gatherings including conferences. The Malaysian Government, including its Health Ministry (MOH) and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), is closely monitoring the situation and has taken preventive actions and measures against the COVID-19 in accordance with World Health Organization guidelines to safeguard travelers’ well-being.
MOH has strengthen health screenings at all entry points into the country and is ready to respond swiftly if necessary. Entry ban on those coming from Hubei, Jiangsu and Zhejiang province in China and Hokkaido in Japan; All Iranian, Italian and South Korean nationals will be barred from entering Malaysia following the Covid-19 outbreak in those respective countries effective from 13 March. Malaysians returning from these countries would also be quarantined for 14 days.
