Kuala Lumpur, 31 January – YBhg. Dato’ Seri Alwi Bin Haji Ibrahim, Secretary General, Ministry of Home Affairs Malaysia announced and officiated the launch of IFSEC Southeast Asia and The Malaysia Security Industry Excellence Awards today at the press conference held at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

The Malaysian Security Industry Excellency Award (MSIEA) 2019 is to celebrate the very best in the security industry. It is an award to recognise the commitment and outstanding leadership of individuals and corporates in security best practices.
The twenty-one Awards focus on five main categories, namely, Committed Security Officer, Committed Security Manager, Commitment to Security by a Corporate, Commitment to Security Training and Security Product of the Year. Nominations are opened to hotels, banks, shopping malls, gated community, schools, colleges and university campuses, and office buildings, sectors where security is a crucial element in safeguarding public and the environment.
In each category, three finalists will be selected and the final selection of one Excellence Award Winner and two Award of Recognition Winners will be announced at the MSIEA Dinner & Awards Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, March 20th, 2019 at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.
The panel of judges are independent representatives from organizations who are stakeholders of the security industry.
The Asian Professional Security Association (APSA) was formed in 1994 with an objective to promote professionalism and excellence in the security industry. Today it has established itself in 12 countries within the Asian region to enhance cooperation, collaboration and security best practices. Members of APSA are security practitioners and security service and technology providers. The Patron of APSA Malaysia is the Ministry of Home Affairs.

APSA Malaysia advocates for best practices and the need for knowledge-based and skilled workforce as an integrated form of security deliveries. Security is beyond physical security and the role of a security practitioner is not only in protecting an organisation’s asset but contributing to future growth of the organisation. Today security is a major management function.

MSIEA 2019 is organised by APSA in partnership with PPKKM (Security Services Association of Malaysia) and UBM. The award celebration will be held in conjunction with UBM’s IFSEC Southeast Asia and the ASEAN Super 8 exhibitions and PPKKM’s 26th Annual General Meeting.
IFSEC Southeast Asia – Kuala Lumpur 2019 is the top leading exhibition event for security, fire and safety in Southeast Asia. This event is the best platform for all the industry player from all over the world to showcase the latest products and discover the opportunities in the Southeast Asia. The event will be held for three consecutive day starts from 19 – 21 March 2019 in Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

IFSEC Southeast Asia is the component of mega event called ASEAN Super 8. This mega event will bring together 8 fantastic shows under one roof which comprises major industries such as Construction, Engineering, Energy Heavy Machinery, & Equipment and Security.
